"I found a 4 1/2 pound starving kitten/cat last fall near a river in Darrington, Washington while collecting mushrooms. She had obviously been abandoned, had been spayed, and practically jumped into our car (with a panting 130 pound Great Pyrenees dog in the back seat.) I took her home (she gained 4 pounds in one month!) and she is a body double for Vegas...except that she has two black paws (on opposite sides, and two mixed tan ones, with pink pads, on the other opposite sides. Her name is Coco (after Coco Chanel...she looked kind of like a ratty 1950's fur on a ladies' suit collar when I found her.) By the way, your site is great. Ellie "

"The day after my mom had brought me home rubber gloves to do the dishes I woke up in the morning and there is this planet lunch box that we have is empty and we keep it because our cat Sparkles likes to chew on it well anyways I saw one of my rubber gloves in it , so I came out to my mom and asked her why one of my rubber gloves was in Sparkles box. She said that she had not done it and I knew I had not put it there.Well later that afternoon I was playing on the computer and then he hopped up near the sink and then I saw him grab my glove in his mouth and run out into the living room so that is when I knew that he had moved my glove before. So now after I am done doing the dishes I make sure I put my gloves under the sink. Nikki"

"The trouble with humphrey...

I have a pet yorkie, the cutest female yorkie on earth. Now I have read up on it and have found out that yorkies often have a favourite toy that they like to "dominate" in the form of play "mating". My little love has taking a strong liking to her toy hippo which I now fondly refer to as Humphrey ( for obvious reasons ). Whenever Gabby sees him see gets that look in her eyes and no matter who is watching or laughing at her she has a go at him and always ends with a dazed look in her eyes and her hair all shaggy and standing out. It's good for a laugh especially when she jumps on Humphrey in a backwards motion. Antoinette "

"Hi Vegas: We are the owners of two cats (we had three but one passed away about a month ago) and one is an 11 year old Tort we call Tabitha. As we are sure you are, our Tabitha likes to run her mouth and "talk" to us. In fact, with me, she has regular conversations .... one cat to another you might say. Lately tho, Tabitha has begun to realize that Sammi (our Maine Coon that we had to put to sleep ... kidney failure) was no longer returning. Tabbi seems to be in mourning. She looks around and sometimes we believe she actually sees Sammi in the house.

Her consolation comes in the form of our other kitty, Kyra Martina, who is a black & white American shorthair who just turned 5. They play "at" each other to see if the other will start a new session of tag aka "lets run madly from room to room for no apparent reason". It makes us smile when we see Tabbi playing with, or at as the case may be, Kyra because then we know that she's not just going to wither away. Mary & Laurie In memory of Sammi "

"Hi, I have a kat who, like Vegas, is a tortoise shell, but my cat, Flem, named so because it looks as though she has blobs of green on her, is a pygmy cat....well she is really small and cute. Flem is now about 2 years old. I was walking down the street just minding my business, when this tiny cat came trotting up to me. She didnt "miow", but instead makes a "brrrruuu" noise rather like a telephone ring!....Flem is very vocal, ..so when i found her, i picked her up and took her home to feed her. My Mother, who was a cat hater at the time, took one look at Flem and fell in love! Now she remains tiny, but has a large wobbly stomach, and huge eyes. She is very pretty! jodie "
