As those of you with cats might know, placement of the cat box can be a complicated thing. You want the box to be off the beaten path in the home but easily accessible for cleaning. The flooring surface should be such as to make cleaning up the inevitable stray pieces of litter as easy as possible. When you live in a small condo or apartment of just have a full house, a suitable cat box location can be difficult to find. Well, I found the perfect place for ours but there is a hallway door between the desired spot and the rest of the house that I sometimes like to leave closed. When closed, how would Vegas, ahem, use the facilities, so to speak? Hmm.

The solution to my problem was a cat door.

As most interior doors are hollow-core, putting the door in was easy: a few cuts (after measuring, of course), affixing the edging and fitting the door in.
I painted the little flap white to keep out the light that came streaming through the lightly tinted plastic. Once installed in the hallway door, Vegas could pass freely, when ever she pleased. With some toy tossing and some gentle nudging, Vegas learned how to pass through the door with little problem.
