It only took a few trips out in the back yard for Vegas to discover grass. Vegas seems to enjoy chewing on grass / plant material. We don’t let Vegas outside very often and didn’t know if what she was eating was good for her, so, we looked into it a little bit and found that cats love to eat grass!

We found many options for providing Vegas with some safe “cat grass” at our local pet store. We found seeds, pre-planted seed/soil mixtures that only needed water added, and even pre-grown grass in pots. Not ones to take the easy way out, we opted for the plain seeds. We bought two bags (just in case I killed the first batch or Vegas really liked it).

Our next stop was the local home improvement store for a suitable pot and soil. I must say, I do not have a green thumb (I’d go as far as to say I have a brown thumb when it comes to plants). I was really winging this planting thing.

I filled the pot with soil and then added the seeds. The seed mixture we bought had barley, oat and wheat seeds. I covered the seeds, added water and waited. I didn’t believe it would really work but it did! About 5 days later, I had grass growth. Really good grass growth!
